Canning Pot Roast

Oct 12, 2026 | Blog, Food, Preserving, Recipes

I decided to try canning a second beef soup before winter gets here.  This recipe came from MyBasicHomestead.com.  This one was as easy to assemble as the Beef Stew.  Adding raw ingredients to each jar.  I winged it on the amount of each ingredient.  I didn’t buy 5 lbs of pork butt, more around 3 1/2.  This gave me 3 quarts of beef.  I then filled each of those with the veggies and potatoes.  I didn’t have thyme on hand so I will add on the jars to add when heating it up. I pressure canned them for 90 minutes.  I had a little bit of siphoning of the beef broth from each jar, otherwise all sealed.

I have not opened up a can yet for dinner.  As soon as I do, I will report on my thoughts of how it tasted.
