Snakes In Your Garden?

A week ago I was out in the garden while our neighbors kid was push mowing our yard. I walked over a couple times torwards him to show him areas that needed mowing. On my way back the 2nd time, I caught a glimpse of what looked like a snake after I walked by. A big snake it was. He had just mowed that area and got that snake with the blade. After a longer look realized it was most likely a rattle snake. Yikes! Probably a 3ish year old snake. Yikes I walked by it twice before he mowed over it.  Unfortunately I didn’t get the rattle in the picture.  I didn’t notice until afterwards and I had no desire to go back until a few hours later and hopefully done squirming.

I have been timid to go to my garden since then. Decided it might be in my best interest to purchase a pair of snake gators to wear while I mow or tend to my garden. This was the first rattlesnake we’ve seen on our land but we know there are many across the road and up the hill so it was just a matter of time before they crossed over to our place.

After a little research, I decided to purchase these gators (affiliate link).  The fit is decent and they give me more confidence.  Well worth $40.
