Mouse Guard

For nearly a year, I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect mouse guard entrance for my hive. I bought one online, but it didn’t quite tickle my fancy. I mean, who thought it was a good idea for bees to scale Mount Everest to get in and out? Then I stumbled upon a genius in a video, who simply used tiny chicken wire. Cue the light bulb! That was the plan I had been waiting for. A quick snip here and there, and voilà! Installation was so easy, I could’ve done it with my eyes closed — though I wouldn’t recommend that!

I’ve installed a camera on my beehive to play the role of their overprotective parent all winter long. Honestly, it’s like reality TV — I’m thrilled to keep tabs on my little buzzers! Who knew watching bees could be such entertaining drama?
