Building Beehive Stand

For many years, I’ve dreamed of beekeeping, and this summer marks the beginning of that journey. A few years back, I bought a bee hive, but it has just been sitting unused in my garage. However, I finally took action and ordered my first bee package this spring, which forced me to finally build a stand for the hive, allowing me to prepare a proper home for my long-neglected equipment.
I explored various choices for a stand and found that I particularly liked the cinder block design. It seemed straightforward to build and put together.
I began by preparing the ground to ensure the bottom cinder blocks were level. After leveling the first block, I placed a second one on top and on top of it I flipped it on its sides so that I could place two pieces of timber wood in the holes. This method effectively prevents the timbers from sliding around. Since the hive will rest lengthwise on these boards, I decided to attach two 1″x6″ wooden planks to increase the depth, providing better stability for the 20″ 10 frame hive. I used several wood screws to firmly fasten them to the timbers.
Once the beehive was set on the stand, it seemed solid and well-constructed. Here’s to hoping it endures for many years to come.
