Chocolate Chip Cherry Bars

I have been on a cherry kick this summer and have purchased too many so I was in need of a recipe to use them in. I found many that looked yummy, but this one had great reviews so I wanted to try it first. I found this recipe on AverieCooks.com. I used Sweet Cherries and I milled soft white wheat for the flour. They turned out so good. A bit on the sweet side which stops me from eating too many at a time which is a good thing. Otherwise I think I could eat them all at once. I baked them for the full 32 minutes and they were still quite gooey in the middle but I’m ok with them gooey. When I combined the ingredients, I just threw everything in and stirred. Next time I’ll do a better job following instructions and combine the brown sugar and butter first. And I might add slightly more flour for a little less gooey.
I will definitely be making these again but with frozen cherries since they are now out of season and frozen will be all I have until next summer. Below is a picture of my final product. Almost matches my countertops. 🙂
