Castor Oil Packs for Healing

For the last few months, my heel has been throwing a tantrum that rivals a toddler denied candy. The most dramatic moments happen when I wake up or after I’ve transformed into a human statue by sitting too long. When I finally stand and attempt to walk, my heel feels like it’s been in a wrestling match with a brick wall — stiff and painfully defiant. I have no clue how I managed to injure it; it’s like my heel decided to audition for a role in “The Mystery of the Unexplained Pain.” I had high hopes that this discomfort would magically disappear, but alas, it’s still hanging around like an unwanted houseguest. So, I think it’s time to roll up my sleeves and take some action. It might be plantar fasciitis or a bone spur, but who knows? All I’m certain of is that castor oil is supposed to work wonders for both.
So, I’ve been diving deep into the rabbit hole of castor oil research lately. Apparently, this magical potion can work wonders on muscles, tendons, bone spurs, and a laundry list of other ailments. Seriously, it can break down bone spur calcification, tackle lumps like a heavyweight champion, ease constipation (hello, bathroom relief!), and clear up congestion. It’s basically the Swiss Army knife of natural remedies. Therefore, it’s going to be my go-to strategy. I’ve snagged some unbleached organic cotton to apply the oil and plastic wrap because let’s face it — nobody wants to deal with an oil spill on their favorite couch. Plus, I ordered some Castor Oil Pack Wraps from Amazon because I like my oil packs secure and my clothes oil-free.
Speaking of which, I’ve shared some short clips of Dr. Barbara O’Neill discussing castor oil packs below. I adore her videos; she’s like the cool aunt of natural remedies! In one clip, she recommends using saran wrap over the fabric to keep your clothes dry and suggests letting it marinate for at least five hours daily. Oh, and don’t forget the heating pad to help the oil soak in! You’ll need to keep slathering on more castor oil as it dries up — kind of like a never-ending skincare routine but for your foot. If you’re interested in learning more about castor oil packs, there’s a treasure trove of resources out there. I’m definitely keeping this on my radar for healing.
I’ve only been slathering it on for a few hours while typing away at my desk, and already I’m feeling some improvement. Walking is starting to feel less like a scene from a horror movie! I’ll be tracking my progress like a science experiment to see how effective this little potion truly is. I’m also pondering the idea of combining red light therapy with the castor oil magic, but I want to give the oil its solo act for a few days first. And just for good measure, I’ve been trying castor oil on my husband’s shoulder since he decided to channel his inner dolphin during a softball game. It seems to be doing wonders for him too!
So here’s hoping we both end up pain-free and ready to conquer our next adventures — whether that involves running marathons or simply getting off the couch without sounding like an old creaky door!

8/14 Update: Good news, folks! My heel is on the mend and I’m not doing the morning zombie shuffle as much anymore. I had my castor pack wrapped around my foot for a few nights, but then I realized I could wear it while pretending to be productive at my desk instead. Who knew multitasking could be so cozy? The bedroom turns into a sauna at night, though, so anything on my feet feels like I’m trying to bake them. I’ll keep slathering on the castor oil until my heel decides to stop throwing a tantrum. Stay tuned for more foot adventures!
